Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
March 17, 2020
Dear Parents and Students,
We wanted to update you regarding the Assumption School response to the Coronavirus outbreak.
The well-being of our whole School Community: children, families, teachers and staff is our first concern.
We have been notified by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the Town of Millbury that the public and private schools across the state will be closing for three weeks, which means Assumption School will be closed. After the three weeks the Commonwealth/town will reevaluate the situation and we will go from there. As of this writing, we are back in school on April 7th.
At dismissal on Friday, March 13th, the students were advised to bring home all texts and materials in the event of an extended school closure. Faculty has prepared lessons for students to complete at home.
There are two ways to collect the work for your child:
Tentatively we are looking at March 30th for another possible day to pick up and drop off work.
Fifth Grade will pick up books and necessary materials on Wednesday morning.
As with everything, know that we are doing our best to accommodate you and your child during this difficult time. Please email the teachers with any specific questions you have. Our teachers are available Monday through Friday 8:15 AM-3:00 PM via email.
Continue to monitor your email (possibly junk mail) and the school website for any updates to the current situation. We will also be posting educational websites that you can access for free during this time.
Our prayer is for speedy recovery for all who are sick or affected by this virus and that those that are healthy might remain so. We will communicate any new information as soon as it becomes available.
Be well and God Bless,
Mrs. Julie Olson, Principal
Father Daniel Mulcahy, Pastor
