F.A.I.T.H. and Field Day
Hello Families!
As we approach our end of the year activities, Field Day comes to mind. Since we cannot get together to have a typical field day, we will have a virtual Family Field Day. Mrs. McElreath has planned a “Minute-to-Win-it” style virtual Field Day to be held on Friday, May 29th. Classes will be broken up into groups and will compete at different times.
Families with more than one child, in more than one class, can choose if they want to attend just one session or all that apply.
Games were chosen and customized based on the age appropriate skills of our students. Most equipment should be available within your house, if not it will be provided for you. Games are only a “minute” long but set up and transition time will come into play. I envision each session taking at least 30 minutes or more. You will be provided with a score sheet which will have room for 2 people to compete at a time. Therefore, you may have to stagger, or be selective, as to whom in the family will be competing with the student.
As you may or may not know, I like to have a theme for field day. In keeping with our faith, we are asking that you assist us to help those in need. We are calling it F.A.I.T.H. and Field Day! F.A.I.T.H. stands for Feeding All In Times of Hope. In the past we have supported St. Vincent DePaul, and while we are not in school to host a typical can drive/fundraiser we are asking that during drop off/pick up on Tuesday, May 26th that you bring in a non-perishable item or items to be donated to the St. Vincent DePaul food pantry. For each item you donate, that item will earn you “advantages” in the games. Advantages could be extra time or less items to use.
If you would like a sneak peek at some of the games we will be playing visit www.redtri.com and in the search area type “Minute to win it games.” Scroll down and click on “25 minute-to-win-it games for kids.” You will find descriptions and links to short videos on the games.
In your bag of fun, available during pick up/drop off, will be the exact games you will be participating in, along with what time each class will be competing, and a link to your class’s time. The classes will be done via Zoom. So please take a minute and grab an extra canned good and assist us in helping families who could use a little extra love and hope during these unprecedented times. Thank you and we look forward to having a lot of fun!
