Educating the Whole Child:
Mind, Body and Spirit.
April 21, 2020
Good afternoon Assumption Families,
Earlier this afternoon Governor Baker announced that Massachusetts Schools will be closed through the remainder of the school year, we will continue our Remote Learning. This ensures that our students, staff and families will be safe.
The Governor’s decision is in the best interest of our students, families, and staff. I recognize that this decision brings with it much sadness and disappointment. My heart aches for students and staff who will not be together to finish out the school year and take part in our annual traditions like field day, field trips, Fine Arts Night, The King and I, and concerts. We also carry in our hearts our eighth graders being promoted to high school. We are here to help navigate a very challenging time. We want you to know we care and think of you often. We will be discussing the many options for our eighth graders and their very special time.
I continue to be impressed by our resiliency and adaptive skills as a community. We are committed to providing our students a continuity of education through their regular lessons Monday through Thursday, with virtual field trip/catch up Friday. Remote learning is getting stronger every day. We know that our students are successfully accessing their lessons/meetings and we are working hard to ensure that this is the case for every student.
We know that through our continued home-school partnership, we can engage our students in learning because it is important to their growth. We greatly appreciate your support and partnership so that we can successfully continue your child’s education. Our Assumption families thus far have accepted the challenge and we couldn’t be more proud.
We know that as a result of this announcement there will be many questions. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work through transitional decisions over the next several weeks. We want to be sure that we communicate with you frequently and will be reaching out as soon as decisions are made.
It is important we work together and support our students. I cannot thank you enough for all that you are doing as we all work through this together.
We miss you all.
