Assumption School participates each year in service to the Community Harvest Project which grows hundreds of thousands of pounds of fruits and vegetables each year to donate to food-insecure individuals and families in the Worcester County area of Massachusetts.
The group uses a neighbor-helping-neighbor approach, engaging volunteers to plant, tend, and harvest crops each season. In 2016, 10,000 volunteers grew 220,000 pounds of fruits and vegetables that fed over 100,000 people, and also provided more than 1,400 students with 4,100 hours of nutrition education.
