A message from ASSUMPTION ELEMENTARY SCHOOL Saturday, March 28, 2020
Dear Parents and Students,
First of all I would like to say thank you for everything you have done over the last couple weeks to help us and your children through these very uncertain times. This is not easy for any of us and we all need to lean on each other and help each other out as best we can. Please know you can contact me or the teachers with any questions during this time.
On Monday, March 30th from 7 AM-9 AM we will have drop off of the last two week's worth of work and pick up of next week's assignments. Grades 4-8 have the option to view/print their assignments online
(www.assumptionschoolmillbury.org, academics, grade, weekly assignments, Password:), but may need to come by to drop completed assignments and collect the graded ones. Moving ahead, the teachers will be in contact with you about how they would like the completed work turned in to them. It may be electronically or at pickup. We will have pickup on:
Monday, April 6th 8 AM -10 AM
Tuesday, April 14th 8 AM -10 AM
Monday, April 27th 8 AM - 10 AM
Our teachers have been diligently learning about distance learning (e-learning) in this very short time. Zoom will be the platform that we use to hold class and meetings. Zoom can be utilized on a cell phone, tablet, or a laptop with a microphone and camera. Our teachers will reach out to you with their Zoom meeting times for each of the classes. If you cannot make the meeting (we understand that each family is different and we will work with each family as best we can), the meeting will be recorded so each student can view it and review it as needed.
The school calendar will remain in effect during this period. This means that any day off or break will be taken. For example: Good Friday, Easter Monday, and our Spring break will be observed.
Assumption School follows the guidance of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts's decision on length of the school closure due to COVID-19.
Our school website will have information posted to not only the front page news, but also each of our teacher pages for specials, and each individual grade level or subject (for Middle School). We are trying to streamline the amount of email you are receiving during this time, so please be patient as we work together to make that happen.
Each morning, on our Assumption Facebook page, Father Dan will lead us in prayer. This is a great way to start our day. We will also be taking part in different Lenten traditions such as Stations of the Cross.
Beginning on April 6th, we will implement a 4-day school week and then on Friday of each week we will ask the students to complete a different task in their home or virtually. This will allow for family time, which is extremely important during these times. We will also celebrate a spirit week next week where the students can bring their individuality to class and we will post on Facebook. An email will be sent with more details.
Know that each of us here at Assumption School are ready to help your family as needed during these uncertain times. Please reach out and let us know how we can help.
Thank you, stay safe and healthy, and we will see you on Monday!
